The Anthem Lyrics (PDF file)
I heard this played and promoted on the ZB all night Talkback last Saturday ( 3:50 am 29 Jan. 2011). It sounded great and received lots of positive feedback from listeners. I though I would hunt it down and download it to promote it myself as I’m a fan of our National Prayer. Great version Cindy!!
Thank you Cindy for sharing this spine tingling recording of our marvelous New Zealand anthem. I loved how it started and finished with the karakia. Great time to hear our national anthem with Waitangi day tomorrow. And its my birthday, so it has special significance to this pakeha lady.
Beautiful, as always, powerful, moving, stirring.
Thank you Cindy that was the most powerful rendition of our national song ever. I pray God will continue to protect your awesome voice and giftings.
Kia kaha e hoa ma.
I will be 68 years old this year, and this is the first time I have ever heard our entire anthem. I’m not too proud to say it brought tears to my eyes….awesome Cindy, thanks!!!.And a thanks to Pat Brittenden for playing it on zb and mentioning the site

I heard Cindy’s anthem played on TV1 today over some images of the Christchurch quake damage… It would be great to hear this version of our ‘National Prayer’ being played on the christian media stations too.. I’ve rung them up to suggest it, perhaps if other people could it as well and they might take notice!
Beautifully done, I heard this on the radio today. I think this version help to bring people together like no other.

Beautifully sung. I hope the organisers of the rugby world cup have your number! You sing our anthem with pride which is exactly what is needed.
I hope the organisers allow you to sing our Anthem in full at the opening of the world cup in respect to all those who have lost their lives in Christchurch.
Proud to be a Kiwi in the wake of Christchurches Earthquake and the fact all of New Zealand has banded together to help out.
We as a nation will stand tall, arm in arm.
Kia Kaha Christchurch, I offer my hand to help you stand tall and beautiful once again
This has brought tears to my eyes every time I listen to it. I first heard it on a radio talkback on Wednesday night while listening to the heartache of our fellow citizens in Christchurch. Tears filled my eyes then and since. You have truly blessed us with your beautiful voice. Proud to be a Kiwi – Thinking of all who are hurting….

This would have to be the best ever cover of our National Athem. I too hope that Cindy gets to sing it in front of all our over seas visitors for the World Cup. Well done Cindy. I want to download it for my ring tone. I just love it.
Cindy, I am 61 years young and that is the BEST version of the anthem I have ever heard.
I have heard it on ZB only and stop what I am doing just to listen and absorb. Absolutely beautiful.
Well done.
Like many others I observed the 2 minutes of silence and when I came back into work this rendition was playing on the Radio.
I have never heard the full anthem and to be honest, never knew it was this long.
However, this in my most humble of opinions is the best version I have every heard.
It brought tears to my eyes and pride to my soul.
Stand tall my fellow Cantabrians.
I thought this rendition of our national anthem was fabulous. I am downloading into my music collection which consists mainly pop and rock music.

Hi Cindy,
Simon Barnett played your haunting version on ZM this morning…I was captivated, and just had to stop and listen to it. I’d never heard all the words of the whole NZ anthem played before…beautiful. I love your simple, moving version. 2 weeks ago I was working on a doco where I recorded the NZ anthem being played on the very piano the anthem was composed on. Your evocative version dusts our anthem off and takes it to a whole new level…thank you…it’s already on my ipod!
